YOUTH TRIATHLON COACHES
Youth Head Coach
Adam Fortin
Adam Fortin is a USAT level 1 certified coach and a ACSM certified trainer. He uses these certifications to coach and train all ages in multiple endurance disciplines from 5k to marathon in running and sprint to Ironman in triathlon.
Coach Adam is an Arkansas native who has been working with kids almost 20 years and coaching kids triathlon for 8 years. He came to the sport of triathlon after college when he heard about the sport from a family friend. He completed his first triathlon, Ozark Valley Triathlon, and knew he found a sport he loved and wanted to share with others. He was asked to help coach a group getting ready for Trifest for MS. He loved the experience of sharing what he had learned, supporting athletes, and motivating them to reach their goals. After that year Adam was given the chance to start a program to coach kids for Trifest and this is when he found his huge passion. He loves working with kids giving them skills they can use for the rest of their lives to stay healthy and active, and giving them confidence to be themselves.
Adam said if you’re around him enough you’ll hear him talk about control – “what you can control”. For him it starts with his smile😊 . His favorite quote that he shared he got from Chris McCormack’s book I’m Here to Win. He has a quote “when the pain comes you know what I do? I smile” that quote has helped Adam tremendously over the years change how he views pain. Smiling helps him switch his mindset and think positively. If you have to be in pain might as well do it with a smile.
Youth Assistant Coach
Jason Klotz
Jason Klotz is a USAT level 1 certified coach. He has lived in Arkansas for over 20 years now after being born in Chicago and growing up in Michigan. He was lucky to have memorable experiences in sports growing up and great coaches along the way which led him to coaching in his early 20's. Jason has coached baseball, volleyball, basketball and now triathlon with the focus of having fun while continuing to develop skills.
Jason has been friends with Adam for a long time now and they were coaching Little League together when he decided to train for his 1st Ironman. Inspired by Adam and another friend, he decided to try his hand at a triathlon during TriFest in 2021. After enjoying the weekend festivities, Adam encouraged him to join him and race Ironman Chattanooga 70.3. At this same time, Jason assisted Adam in coaching the youth team which has made him come to love multisport even more. He absolutely loves race day, he does not think there is a better atmosphere surrounded by positivity and excitement.

Youth Assistant Coach
Craig Findlay
Craig moved to Bentonville in 2017 with his family and was one of the first members of team One80. Sport has been a huge part of Craig’s life and he has had the opportunity to play Professional Soccer upon leaving high school. Professionally, he was a Physical Education Teacher/Athletic Director for 6 years and has taught age 3-18 teaching/coaching a range of different activities. From the first meeting with coach Jay he prepared him to run his first marathon in Tulsa finishing in 3:11 - the last 10k was awful and he wasn’t sure about running a marathon again never mind doing a triathlon. He quickly came round and has since really enjoyed the triathlon journey achieving good results along the way. He has completed 4 - 70.3 Ironman races and his last qualified him for 70.3 worlds in Finland in August 2023. He completed 2 full Ironman races in 2022 - Tulsa in May and Florida in November. The racing part is super fun but being a part of a great team who always help encourage you and cheer you on is what he loves the most.
Craig was also awarded Gold Status in the Ironman All World Athlete in 2022 which is the top 2% of his age group!
